Eligibility: B.Com pass from any govt. recognized university / Duration: 2 Years

MCom is best suited for applicants, who desire to pursue a career in Banking, Accounting, Financial and Investment sectors. Students should have knowledge of economics and business in order to pursue this two-year programme. Those who have finished their undergraduate studies in commerce (BCom, BCom Honours) with a minimum grade point average of 50% are eligible to pursue the MCom programme. Those who want to become teachers or lecturers often choose the MCom degree. After finishing the MCom course, students must enrol in PhD courses to qualify. MCom courses are also available to students via distant learning. Candidates can apply for MCom Distance Admission if they are unable to attend regular classes in person at the institute. Such individuals may apply for admission to the MCom course via distant learning.

M.Com (Semester pattern with Credit System) degree Programme of Department of Commerce & Research Center, University of Pune shall be building on expansion of undergraduate studies on one hand and the other, focusing on modern practices and Strategies followed in Commerce System, resulting into a ‘Commercial Professional’; who is able to operate in any role in commerce and business worldwide. This in turn contributes to the advancement of professionalism in trade, commerce and industry. However, the specific objectives of the Programme are:

(a) To acquaint and equip students with the knowledge and understanding of emerging commercial, business practices and professions in India and abroad.

(b) To help students to acquire advanced knowledge in selecting subjects and areas in Commerce and trade.

(c) To facilitate the students to learn to seek application of knowledge and be able to challenge the knowledge so acquired in practice.

After completing MCom, a candidate can seek employment in the BFSI sector, opt for a teaching job or lecturer-ship or go for research. There are various job options for MCom degree holders in the private, public, and government sectors. Nationalised banks, Railways, Income Tax and other government departments are good options for MCom degree holders to aim for a secure and prosperous career. People who have finished the MCom programme can find work in both the business and public sectors. The salary paid varies by field and is determined by the recruiters’ skills, qualifications, experience, and other special requirements.
